Anastrozole, also known as Arimidex,  is a Competitive Non-Steroidal Aromatase Inhibitor.  This means that it blocks the Aromatase Enzyme. 

It is  Aromatase that  is chiefly responsible for converting Testosterone to Estrogen.  It is used clinically for treatment of estrogen dependent tumors in post menopausal women.

Anastrozole is remarkably powerful, as a single daily dose of 1mg can render upwards of 80% Estrogen suppression in test subjects.  Less is more when it comes to responsibly using this for research.  One half, or even one quarter of that dose is effective for most research.
